Several rewards are given during formal meetings of the International Academy of History of Pharmacy : The Carmen Frances Medal and Prizes were created nearly twenty years ago by one of our Honorary Presidents, Maria del Carmen Francés Causapé. They are awards of the International Academy of History of Pharmacy. The Carmen Frances Medal recognizes a life dedicated to the History of Pharmacy. It is a piece in bronze made by the French sculptor Philippe Arnault. The Carmen Frances Prize recognizes an important piece of research work in the History of Pharmacy undertaken as a Doctoral Thesis. The Schelenz Plaque is awarded by the Schelenz Foundation in Germany, in recognition of a lifetime of outstanding scientific work on the history of pharmacy. It is one of the most important international honours in the history of pharmacy, and may be awarded to a person from any country. It is presented by the president of the German Society for the History of Pharmacy. It is normally awarded every second year. The Parmentier Medal was instigated in 2013 by the French Society for the History of Pharmacy, and recognises outstanding contributions to the history of pharmacy in any country. |
